I want to preface this conversation by saying the first drafts of my book were called, “Witch Element”.  Get it?  It was a little too kitschy, even for me.  Ha!

Besides being the four directions and the four forces we deal with most, fire, water, air and earth, the elements inside of us are also the same elements within the universe.  Once we recognize the elements inside of us, we can also recognize the elements outside of ourselves.  We are universes inside universes.  When we recognize we are a universe inside another universe, then we can create and manifest in the outer universe.  We can connect our hearts to the outer universe with our love frequency, to attain balance, manifestation and intuitive abilities.

Balance is the true goal.

Taoism is perhaps the most feminine of the ancient religions and if one word could encapsulate it, it would probably be, “flow.”

♦︎

The Great Tao flows everywhere,
to the left and to the right,
all things depend on it to exist,
and it does not abandon them.
to its accomplishments it lays no claims.
It loves and nourishes all things,
but does not lord it over them.

♦︎

Taoism seems to be written for this period of time of change and chaos.  We must flow everywhere, not out of fear, but out of love.  We realize we are as vital and powerful as the life-giving water on this planet.  We do not abandon, we do not lord over what we love and nourish, and in this flow is how we maintain our power and balance.

If you notice the visible and invisible movements of your heart center… Let’s take a moment and just notice our heart center.

How does it feel?

Is there room for opening?

The incredible thing about love and our heart chakra is that there seems to be an infinite amount of space for it to grow.

Our power in flow comes from this ability to move right, move left, move inward, expand into any number of directions–just like chaos.

You can think of it as the eye of a hurricane, the center of a spiral, or as the nucleus surrounded by moving electrons.  The imagery can be important as we are not taught the technology of the heart.

In this course I’ll introduce some heart technologies our ancient ancestors used to connect to the planet and the cosmos at large.

One thing one notices about the ancient cultures is that ancient people use everything.

The mark of a moderate man
is freedom from his own ideas.
Tolerant like the sky,
all-pervading like sunlight,
firm like a mountain,
supple like a tree in the wind,
he has no destination in view
and makes use of anything life happens to bring his way.

♦︎

A very simple and straightforward way to maintain your center in a heart-driven way is to accept and use everything that comes your way.  Even obstacles aren’t wasted.

For example, there exists a person who had a father who displayed narcissistic tendencies.  His father passed away, and as he got older he realized his brothers sometimes displayed those same tendencies.  Instead of completely rejecting his two living brothers, he communicated his boundaries to them.  It created some conflict for him, it took great courage on his part.  At first the boundaries weren’t received very well.  After some time though, both his brothers changed their relationship with him and their respective partners.

Using love, we accept what is and use it as a tool for our lives.

One of my favorite examples of this in cooking is plantains.  In many countries in Latin America we/they fry green or black plantains.  There’s a thick skin for this type of banana, so thick that one must use a knife to peel off the skin.  You cut the plantain in half, then in quarters, then peel off the skin.  Once we’ve accomplished the obstacle of thick skinned bananas, we use the skin as a napkin on top of a plate–to soak up the excess oil from frying.  And use the other skins to cover the already fried plantains to keep them hot.

Of course if you are in an abusive situation with someone, you should seek outside help immediately.   There are many resources, both online and in-person.

Very practically speaking, monitor your eating and sleeping habits connected to each element, an excess of water can be related to one’s kidneys.

Open your heart and let the flow go, gushing in and out, allow your heart to expand into the consciousness of the ocean.  Our hearts are verily like oceans, grandiose and unexplored.
